Pedestrian accidents are up by 11 percent in recent years

A new report, published by the Governors Highway Safety Association, suggests that pedestrians are at even higher risk now for injuries than they ever were previously. In fact, they report that just last year alone, the rate of pedestrian fatalities went up by at least 11 percent from the previous year. It's believed that alcohol consumption and the use of cellphones is at least partially responsible for a large number of these deaths.

Pot's legalization and the impact on car crash rates

A recent study, conducted by the Highway Loss Data Institute, suggests that states that have legalized the possession of marijuana for recreational use may be more vulnerable to higher car crash claims than those that have not. They note that states like Washington, Colorado and Oregon have seen a nearly three percent increase in crashes annually since marijuana first started being sold legally in these states between 2014 and 2015.

A multi-car crash claims 1 life, injures 3 others in Murrieta

A late morning crash on Wednesday, September 6th claimed the life of one motorist and injured three others in the French Valley portion of Murrieta. The multi-car accident, which occurred near the intersection of Winchester and Auld roads, was first reported to police at 10:44 a.m.

A suspected drunk driver strikes 2 cars, kills 1 in Coronado

The driver of a Jeep crashed into two vehicles along the Silver Strand State Highway in Coronado early in the morning on Sunday, Aug. 20. Police believe that vehicle's driver may have been intoxicated at the time. That crash resulted in at least one motorist being killed and six other individuals suffering injuries.
